Welcome! I’m Susy Dorn. I’m a teacher, school director, singer-songwriter, puppeteer and a native Peruvian. I’ve had the privilege of teaching and entertaining young children in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than a decade. I believe that early childhood is the best time for a child to learn a second language, and that kids love learning when it’s fun, musical, and interactive.
Let’s Play in Spanish first began classes in the year 2000 in the home of a friend. Over time, this small classroom grew into a creative, inspiring Spanish learning program. I am grateful to have found this amazing way to bring together my degree in Child Development Education, love of children, and experience in music and theatre to create interactive Spanish immersion programs for toddlers, pre-school, kindergarten and elementary age children. Our program has grown largely by word-of-mouth referrals from parents from the Silicon Valley and all over the Bay Area, who have been delighted to hear their children sing, communicate and understand the Spanish language. Today, “Let’s Play” has touched the lives of thousands of children and their parents. Many of the children who attend are not native Spanish speakers, but some Spanish speaking families are delighted to join us to keep the language alive.
We have devoted ourselves to making Let’s Play in Spanish available to as many children as we can reach. We strongly feel that all children deserve the opportunity to learn a second language when they are young, and hope that we can help them develop an appreciation for other cultures and traditions as well as a respect for the values that unite us all.
Juguemos, siempre juguemos!
(Let’s play, let’s always play!)
